Photo estimate questions

Straight answers about how this works, what it can tell you, and what it cannot.

How accurate is a photo estimate?

It is a preliminary range based on what is visible in your photos. We give a range rather than a single figure precisely because photos cannot show everything.

The honest answer is that hidden damage changes things. A bumper that looks like a simple replacement can turn out to have a cracked mounting bracket or a damaged sensor behind it. That is normal, and it is why nobody can give you a firm number from photographs.

What photos should I send?

Three at minimum, up to six:

  • The whole vehicle, with the damaged area visible in context
  • A close-up of the damage itself
  • The same damage from a different angle

Daylight helps. So does stepping back far enough that we can see where on the car the damage sits.

Please stay safe. Do not step into traffic, crawl under the vehicle, or take anything apart to get a better photo. No estimate is worth that.

Can you tell me if my car is safe to drive?

No. That cannot be determined from photographs, by us or by anyone else, and we will not guess at it.

If you have any doubt at all — the vehicle pulls, something is dragging, fluid is leaking, a wheel looks out of place, or a warning light is on — do not drive it. Call us on (435) 865-5779 and we will talk it through.

How long does it take to get a range back?

Usually within a few minutes of submitting your photos.

Some cases we deliberately hold back for an estimator to look at — anything involving possible structural damage, a deployed airbag, or photos we cannot read well enough. Those come back during business hours rather than instantly, and that is the right trade.

Why do I have to verify my email?

Two reasons. It confirms a real person is asking rather than an automated script, and it means we have a contact route that definitely works when your estimate is ready.

It takes about a minute and you only do it once per request.

Is the estimate produced by AI?

Partly, and we would rather say so than not. An AI service reviews your photos and describes the damage and the repair operations it would expect.

The AI does not set the price. The cost is calculated from our own labour rates and materials pricing. The AI describes the work; our rates do the arithmetic.

An estimator reviews anything the system is not confident about, and every range comes with an explanation of what was seen.

What happens to my photos?

They are stored privately, and used to prepare your estimate and respond to you. Nothing else.

They are not published, not added to our gallery, and not used for marketing unless you separately agree to it. Photos from inquiries that do not turn into jobs are deleted after 90 days.

More detail is in our privacy notice.

Do you work with insurance companies?

Call us and we will talk through your specific claim and insurer on (435) 865-5779.

What is worth knowing up front: a photo estimate is not an insurance approval, and it does not replace your insurer's own assessment process.
